Our Mission and Vision

Our Vision

Adolescents from all walks of life, that live and attend school on Chicago's North side, will have the opportunity to discover Jesus Christ and grow in the Abundant Life God intends for them.

Our Mission

Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.

We accomplish our mission by:

• Praying for young people
• Going where kids are
• Building personal relationships with them
• Winning the right to be heard
• Providing experiences that are fun, adventurous and life-changing
• Sharing our lives and the Good News of Jesus Christ with adolescents
• Inviting them to personally respond to this Good News
• Loving them regardless of their response
• Nurturing kids so they might grow in their love for Christ and the knowledge of God’s Word and becoming people who can share their faith with others
• Helping young people develop the skills, assets and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential
• Encouraging kids to live connected to the Body of Christ by being an active member of a local congregation

In Chicago:

God is leading us to build a Mission Community of churches, teachers, parents, community members and organizations devoted to teens that live and go to school in our North side neighborhoods.  Young Life exists all over Chicagoland - we are focused on the urban and multicultural public schools and neighborhoods on the city’s North side. This is where we live. These are our kids!

Young Life is all about connecting caring adults with young people that live or go to school in the neighborhood.   Our dream here on the North side, is to provide a caring adult for every kind of kid in every one of our eleven neighborhoods stretching from Lakeview, to Rogers Park, to Albany Park. With a diverse array of churches, colleges, businesses, people, and with God’s direction, we believe this is possible!

Young Life Leaders on the North side are walking with kids from many backgrounds– truly a multicultural ministry. This poses great challenges and opportunities in meeting young people in a way that works for them. In response, we train and empower indigenous and relocated leaders to carry out their calling to positively impact young people through the ministry of Young Life.

We not only care about kids who live or go to school on the North side, but across the city!  Our Youngife city staff and leadership share a united vision to bring young people from across the city together for adventure, relationships, reconciliation, and empowerment to positively impact their school, and neighborhood.

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity.Young Life's Human Resources department has developed missionwide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders as well as when kids are part of Young Life'sponsored activities.
